National Safe Digging Month

Spring is here and so is project season! April is National Safe Digging Month and we here at the district recognize the importance of contacting 811 before all outdoor digging projects.

Be sure to contact @Colorado811 at least 3 business days before any digging project, no matter how large or small.

South Platte Renew Earth Day River Clean-Up

South Platte Renew (SPR) is hosting the annual River Clean-Up event between April 11 and April 23.

Building off the success of last year’s virtual event, this year will be a hybrid of DIY (do-it-yourself) efforts throughout the two weeks, leading up to the clean-up of Centennial Park on Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. – noon.

World Water Day is March 22

World Water Day is on March 22 every year. It is an annual United Nations Observance, started in 1993, that celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2 billion people currently living without access to safe water.

Fix a Leak Week is March 14 – March 20

This week is the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) "Fix a Leak Week". Household leaks can waste nearly 1 trillion gallons of water annually nationwide.

The district challenges you to take part in Fix a Leak Week by checking for leaks and making simple and inexpensive upgrades to your home plumbing system. Common types of leaks found in the home are worn toilet flappers, dripping faucets, and other leaking valves.

Garden In A Box Coming in March

Resource Central’s Garden In A Box offers a simple approach to waterwise gardening with professionally designed kits including plant by number maps and plant care information.

Homeowners, communities, and HOAs can plant the gardens to replace turf, reduce watering requirements, and otherwise improve conservation practices for their landscapes.
